IMGs Participating in 2005 Match Must Take Step 2 CS as Early as Possible

International medical graduates who wish to participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), or "the Match," must have passed all exams required for ECFMG Certification. For applicants who have not passed the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA®), these requirements include passing USMLE™ Step 2 Clinical Skills (Step 2 CS).

If you need to pass Step 2 CS to participate in the 2005 Match, you are strongly encouraged to apply for Step 2 CS as soon as you are eligible and to schedule your Step 2 CS testing appointment for the earliest possible date.

You should be aware that a specific date for the reporting of Step 2 CS results cannot be guaranteed. However, as previously published on the USMLE and ECFMG websites and in The ECFMG Reporter, examinees who take Step 2 CS later than December 31, 2004 are unlikely to have results in time to participate in the 2005 Match. Additionally, demand for Step 2 CS testing spaces in the months preceding December 31, 2004 is expected to be heavy.

You can apply for Step 2 CS and schedule your Step 2 CS testing appointment by visiting the ECFMG website. Refer to the announcements page of the ECFMG website for important updates related to Step 2 CS.
