Deadline for 2003 USMLE Applications

USMLE application materials for eligibility periods ending in 2003 are valid through August 29, 2003. The last 2003 eligibility period is October 2003 - December 2003. The deadline for receipt of complete applications for this eligibility period is August 29, 2003.

Paper application materials for 2003 USMLE eligibility periods will be available on this website until August 29, 2003. ECFMG must receive completed paper applications for the last 2003 USMLE eligibility period no later than August 29, 2003.

2003 USMLE eligibility periods are no longer available through ECFMG's Interactive Web Application (IWA). However, if you have completed the on-line portion of an application for the last 2003 USMLE eligibility period, you can complete the 2003 application by ensuring that your Certification Statement (Form 183) is received by ECFMG no later than August 29, 2003. Typically, ECFMG must receive the completed Certification Statement within four months of the date that applicants submit the on-line part of the application. However, if you wish to complete an on-line application for the last 2003 eligibility period, ECFMG must receive the completed Certification Statement no later than August 29, 2003. Please note that this deadline may be earlier than the deadline indicated in the Instructions for the Certification Statement and in correspondence you may have received from ECFMG.

2003 USMLE applications (on-line and paper) received by ECFMG after August 29, 2003 will be rejected, and you will be required to apply for a 2004 eligibility period using a 2004 USMLE application. (The first 2004 eligibility period is November 2003 - January 2004.) In this case, any payment received with your 2003 USMLE application will be credited to your ECFMG financial account.
